R.I.P Stroker

Sadly we say good-bye to Tom Medley a.k.a Stroker McGurk who died this week, aged 93 years old.
Tom was in our mind one of the most influential people in hot rodding in that he was editor for Hot Rod Magazine, and then Rod & Custom, at two of the most pivotal times in the history of our hobby. I had the pleasure to meet him years ago with Tex Smith and then we renewed the aquaintance after I won the Stroker Award at the West Coast Nationals.
More recently we were able to join with many others contributing to the rebuild of his fire damaged '40 coupe. He was a hot rodder to the core and had a great sense of humour.

Red Hot!

We've lost count of the number of cars that have rolled out our doors now, but the latest is this sweet 38 Ford standard coupe. The owner unfortunately had a major engine fire and took the opportunity to do have us do some additional renovation on the vehicle at the same time as we carried out the insurance repairs.
Fresh (dare we say Fire Engine) red paint, and a reconditioned short block, repolished stainless trim and this coupe is ready for plenty more street miles.

We’ve got a truck load of work!

We’ve recently completed our part of the body & engineering work on a Model A closed cab pickup, now back with the owner for the woodwork to be installed. As soon as there was a gap in the workshop this new pickup project arrived. It will also largely be a restoration, as a promotional vehicle for Brett Morris from Seamount Enterprises. This is the longer wheelbase AA pickup and was shipped into NZ through Paul Stitchbury at CFR Line.

Heaps of character & patina, but definitely in need of some loving care to bring it up to daily driveable condition.

Follow our Under Construction gallery as work progresses on this old work-horse!
